Chicago Cop . Hilarious, sadly forgotten hip-hop satire a la Spinal Tap. It's too bad this movie didn't get the credit it deserved, as it was overshadowed by CB4 during their releases, but in my opinion is a much better film. It’s freakin excellent and the hats in this movie are marvelous.

C'mon...how can you be against a rap-mockumentary that features the line: Although it rips off SPINAL TAP scene-by-scene in some instances, FEAR OF A BLACK HAT offers up enough belly laughs -- some of them very large -- to make it worth a look. They are essentially the same movie, just about different worlds, and yes, the same jokes work in both movies. Rusty Cundieff's satirical eye is ruthless, as he folds, spindles, and mutilates every aspect of hip-hop trends and culture. Step Three: GET WEIRD! A mockumentary chronicling the rise and fall of NWH, a not particularly talented--or particularly bright but always controversial--hip-hop group. Anyone who grew up watching MTV will love it and if you didn't, rent it anyway,the "My Peanuts" and "A Gangster's life" videos are worth the three bucks alone. Ice dedicates himself to house music; Tasty brings out a diss track in which he curses Ice; and Tone Def becomes a hippie (with obvious references to "flower rappers," such as P.M. See it just for the PM Dawn spoof alone. Not being a rap-conscious guy (although I could identify Snoop Dogg, Vanilla Ice, and MC Hammer music), I wasn't much interested when they started talking about the film. Yes, a bit. Rap today is concerned with the wrong things and get by with studio noise and little talent. NWH (the H stands for hats) beats up a white rapper named "vanilla sherbet," there's a "Black auteur" character named "jike spingleton" who says to camera "to john and to spike and to matty, you stole my shit! Cundieff reserves special venom for counterfeit nationalists who exploit the music for money and power--although he's not mentioned by name, one target of Cundieff's wit is quite possibly Nelson George, author of high-minded books on black culture and producer of the, Musically, Cundieff doesn't miss much either. Director. Astute fans of rap can revel in the spoofs of the songs here, from "My Peanuts," which mocks Run-DMC, to "Come Pet the P.U.S.S.Y.
